Home care doesn't want a hospital bed

Published

I need suggestions, this woman is very attached to her full sized bed and her home care agency is saying that she NEEDS to get a hospital bed or find a way to left her bed up and down for her aides to wash her up. She is an NHTD case and anything would help, Thank you!

What is a NHTD case? Please do not assume any responders know your acronyms.

What is the diagnosis, is this truly a bed bound patient?

I had a client who refused to provide a hospital bed for the patient. I actually hurt my back from the angle at which I had to place myself to reposition the patient. According to the client, nobody could force her to put a hospital bed in her home. She stated she did not want the hospital bed for esthetic reasons. The agency sympathized, but said there was nothing they could do about it.

The cna's need to work on their body mechanics.I have given care to home care patients in low beds while on my knees or kneeling on the edge of the bed. I used to do back stretches and exercise daily. It helps. This lady does have the right to refuse, she can find another agency easily.
