Hi,
I've been away from home care nursing for about 10 years. I am hoping to be able to reduce my hours of work from 40-60 hours per week to part time work and am considering returning to home care/hospice on a part time basis. I am not primarily motivated by finances, but after working in nursing for >25 years, I'm ready to slow down a bit. I just don't know if I can afford to do this. I live in California but may have to consider a move if I can't afford to stay here.
Could some of you please let me know what I might expect from a per visit rate of pay for home care? My specialties have been oncology, HIV, ICU and CCU. Is it realistic to hope to work 20 hours per week in a home care position?
Thanks so much for your feedback!

Hi, I just wanted to let you know there is a home care and hospice care section on here that may get you alot more responses. If you look under nursing specialities at the top of the page by clicking on nursing discussions. You will get a bigger response. Also you can click thru some of the previous post about money in these specialitites until the you get some answers. Good luck and welcome to allnurses.:)
