Home Care...Growing?

Is home care a growing field right now...more so than LTC ?

for Lpn's

i know that home care has been forcasted to grow in the future for several reasons. It has been found to be far more cost effective to have a person recieve nursing care in their home, even 8 hours a day or whatever, then the cost of caring for those people in a nursing home or ect. same with the mentally ill--Far cheaper to rehabilitate them and keep em in the community, even with support services. I would think that the preventative services save alot of money too....far cheaper to care for Jane Doe who is a post op hip replacement for 3-5 days at home then have her get an infection or pop the femor out of the socket or get a bedsore due to lack of services. Also with the elderly population projected to increase alot in the near future, I have read that this is supposed to be how "society" will deal with the cost of their care. Only 5% of all elderly people go to nursing homes according to my community health class..sorry I dont have better references for u..

Personally, I was able to get my first job as a nurse from a home care company.

I was very greatful :)
