Is anybody a current HNH nursing student? I received my packet of information the other day because I will be starting in August 2011. I just wanted to know what the schedule of classes are like the first semester. Also, how do you like it so far?

I know you posted a question, but I have to ask you a question... :)

I applied to the school a month ago for the RN program.

Was it difficult to get in, is it really competitive like other programs?

I heard this is a really good school too!

Hi... well I applied last year for the Fall 2010 program but was waitlisted. The school is hard to get into. I believe they look at everything, gpa, test results from the TEAS, and interview. I heard if you get a call back to an interview its a very good sign that you are accepted. Thats what happened to me.. basically in my interview she just talked about the school and schedule. It just happened that there were to many people and they had to waitlist me until 2011. Have you heard anything from them yet? Like when you are scheduled to take the TEAS? And you should buy the study book they recommend its very good. Keep me posted maybe we'll be in class together next year =)

Hii.. just checking in to see if you have heard anything from HNH yet?

hey just saw your post. I am a student at holy name send me your email and i would be glad to answer any questions you have. i dont really go on here much anymore because i am so busy with school but i would deff be willing to give you some pointers and all. One thing is enjoy life now because when you start you wont have one..and have you done your pre-reqs yet?

I also just got my acceptance letter in the mail last weekend and I'm very excited to be starting the program this Fall! It's been a year-long process, but in the end it paid off.

I had to go back and get transcripts from my high school, colleges and massage therapy school first. Then a few months later I took the TEAS test, which I did well on but found to be easy and hard. I did very well on the English and Reading sections but struggled a little on the Math and Science portions. I recommend the official TEAS study guide (with the online practical) but didn't find it very helpful with the Science part. Remember, if you do not pass the test your first try, you are allowed to take it again but in 2 YEARS! So make sure you study a lot.

About a month later I called the school and found out that I passed the test and was given an interview date 3 months later. The interview went well but I was a little discouraged because my high school and college grades weren't that good. I was told that I would receive a letter in a few months informing me whether I got in or not. I made sure to write a thank you letter to the interviewer and reiterated some points to argue my case for when the admissions committee met. I personally believe that my letter was one of the deciding factors in getting accepted, so I suggest taking time to craft a solid one.

The program I got accepted to is a "3-year track, taking college courses only the first year." I would also appreciate any info/insight regarding the program. Good luck to everyone!

if you have any questions send me an email [email protected]

That's great you were admitted! I was suppose to take the TEAS test this Saturday but they had to move the date until next month! At first I was bummed out because I really want to take it so I can findout sooner if I'm accepted or not, but now I realize this will give me more time to study. Do you have any advice for the TEAS? I've studied the ATI book, the McGraw book and purchased the ATI Online practice test.

Also, how long did it take for them to get back to you about your scores?

Trust me, it's for the best that you get more time to study. I broke a finger on my writing hand a couple of weeks before the test and ended up taking it a month later because of it. There's no way I would have passed if I didn't have the extra study time. Remember, if you don't pass you have to wait 2 years to take it again so make this one count.

My advice would be to really study the math section because you are NOT allowed to use a calculator and they give you about 1 minute per question. Since you have to do all the division, multiplication etc. long-hand, you really don't have any room to go back and check your math (plus you're not supposed to go back to a previous section once it's completed). I used the ATI book as well and found the science part to not be much help. Search Google for other sample tests and see if their science portions have any different stuff. I found the English and reading sections to be fairly easy, but I've always been good at those subjects for the most part, so I spent most of my time focusing on math and making flash cards for science (flash cards are a great tool).

FYI, the ATI online practice test can only be taken twice, so wait until you've gone through the study guide and then take it. I made the mistake of giving it a shot for fun and it locked me out after 2 times.

It took the school about 3-4 weeks to get my test results back but I had to call them to find out how I did. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Good luck!

I will be starting the program in August.. I hope you will be too! Good luck.. I never actually found out the results to my test. I just received a call regarding an interview. I had to ask the lady who was interviewing me if she had my results.. she quickly showed me them. If you dont hear anything from them a couple weeks after you take them you should call. I took my test on march 27, 2010 and had an interview april 20th. keep me posted!

I'll keep you posted! I take the test March 12th now so I have about a month to finish studying. I've heard we need to know about clouds.. I went to the library to look up books on clouds but they were all children's stories. Do you guys suggest anything?

Ahhhh my test is in TWO DAYS! I'm so so nervous:( I think I've studied as much as I possibly can at this point but still fear the science portion!
