Can anyone tell me if there is a specific Hospice for HIV/AIDS patients in Philadelphia...or if there are special wards in hospitals for this population. I will be moving to Philadelphia next summer and have been working in this field for some time. Absolutely love the work and can't believe I get paid for it. Thanks for any info...Kathy...or Guppy:rolleyes:

Please seek the assistance of NRSKarenRN-moderator. To my knowledge, she works with home health care in Philly and probably respite care and should have some knowledge of HIV services.
I think Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, perhaps Temple and probably St.Agnes/Methodist (see thread on St.Agnes' transition) would have much of that population, as well as TJUH gets a great deal of critical blood bourne disease (advanced HepB/HepC/HepD) that may be on palliative care.

Calcutta House
Calcutta House exists to serve the most fragile persons with AIDS and to support the self-empowerment of each person to live as fully as their situation permits. We provide supportive housing with services responsive to the individual: those who are dying, those who are able to rebuild their lives and move on to independence, and those who will continue to require the assistance of supportive housing. We work with each person to progress towards his/her potential and to achieve attainable and realistic goals. http://www.calcuttahouse.org/

I am moving to Philly to attend a second degree BSN/MSN program. For the past 7 years I have been a provider at an HIV Clinic in North Carolina- is there a Ryan White Title 3 Early Intervention Clinic in the area? I would like to contact them.
Thanks!
Calcutta House has a hospice, counseling clinic, and has created new housing for clients with HIV/AIDS. I'm sure thay have Ryan White funds.
Thanks for the great response to my request for info on HIV/AIDS Hospices in Philly...I have already emailed a few. Guppy:p
