Hiring managers-opinion please

Published

Please clear up a debate for me. Hi there, I am about to start interviewing for RN positions and I went out and bought myself a really nice navy blue pants suit. I found a great pair of silver low heel shoes that look great with the navy suit. You really just see a peek of the silver, and I really love them! But someone in my family told me that silver is not appropriate and that there are hiring managers that would not hire me based on the color of my shoes. I think this is sort of silly,I think my work history and credentials are solid and the suit is very porffesional. The silver shoes I think look really nice. Should I listen to my family member? Or wear the shoes that make me feel great?

Wear the shoes. Your overall professional appearance, attitude and resume will have more "kick" than the shoes.

As a fan of quirky footwear, I'm in favor of the shoes - they sound perfect, just the right amount of pizazz! As long as they don't light up when you walk, or have goldfish in the heels, definitely go for it! I'd go light on the jewelry, and let the shoes be your bling...

I don’t think that they will or will not hire you based on what shoes you are wearing, but, in my opinion if I will be going to a job interview, I would want to dress up conservatively and professionally-----and I’d prefer to wear black shoes with it.

I am a total fashionista, and the shoes sound absolutely FAB :yeah:

but I would not wear them to an interview. I have always heard that you should not wear even one flashy thing to an interview; I have also heard that if you have any doubts about something you are going to wear -- then not to wear it. This advice has seemed to work well for me on interviews.

Now, good luck and -- when can I borrow those shoes?? ;)
