It's important to give yourself enough time to find, interview, be offered and eventually, accept an internship position. I would'nt wait until you've moved because that'll put you behind your peers. Two hospitals in D.C. that offer new grad residency/internship positions are Washington Hospital Center (Dream Day) and Georgetown University Hospital. I just participated in one and I know that offers came out of it for some applicants. Good luck in your search.
I've heard there might be a hiring freeze as well in the INOVA system...however I have a friend who just set up an interview at INOVA Fairfax in April and they are looking to hire at least 12 new grads for the floor she is applying for. Also, I know WHC is hiring right now. Georgetown just had their new graduate day, so most of the new graduate positions their have probably been filled. I don't think the situation is dire, but I would definitely start your search now and set up interviews. Good luck!

Hello all, my friend who works for INOVA in and around the DC area has told me that there's a hiring freeze within the INOVA system, due to the failing economy.
Problem is, I was planning on moving in about 2-3 months to the area, and I'm a new grad. This has me freaked as everyone tells me that INOVA is a good microcosm of the job market from Reston to Baltimore. Are things that dire?
And, if so, how does this affect the internships out there? I don't want to have to struggle when I get out there.
