Has anyone heard about this hiring freeze on Boston hospitals? I have been hearing little things about it, but I haven't actually seen any articles about it in the papers. Does it include hiring nurses?

A couple friends of mine are doing their preceptorships at MGH too this semester, and they told me that there is no need for nurses at this time at MGH. Crazy.

It's frustrating but I think most hospitals are not hiring in "Longwood Medical area" because they are over budget I know that is what Children's has said as well.... Unless that is you are experienced for years.....
Its hard because if you work in one of the hospitals you see the staffing issues and I think we need more nurses, I don't know....
Good luck, something WILL work out, just be persistant and positive!

Hi All,
I work at Partners for MGH and what I've heard about the hiring freeze is that it's part of their way of cleaning house on the open positions that are out there. If departments are really needing the staff, they can request for the open position again. There are departments who post open positions just for the sake of keeping that slot open. I'm sure the economy and the new infrastructure is making MGH tighten up the purse strings.
