I just noticed this forum on allnurses and I can't believe I haven't seen it before now! And what perfect timing since today I was offered my first job since getting my license in August. I was beginning to give up hope of ever getting a nursing job but I'm so glad I didn't.
I was offered a job as a school nurse at an elementary school. I'm so excited yet so nervous at the same time. I was completely shocked to even get the job since I had heard they usually want experienced nurses at schools since you are on your own. I have to admit being on my own makes me nervous but I know I can do it.
Anyway... don't give up hope on finding a job! It will come when you least expect it, at least it did for me! :)
Congrats!! I'm also in the same situation except it hasn't been a year I am so stressed out and would even hate to say I'm losing hope. Ugh I feel terrible its like I go over my resume and don't seem to find nothing wrong with it so why are these jobs not calling me back!!!!!
Specializes in ED, ICU, MS/MT, PCU, CM, House Sup, Frontline mgr.
Congrats. All the school nurses I know love their jobs! In fact, I do not recall a New Grad posting the negative aspects of nursing that most of us read on this forum. So cheers to having a good first year!
