I thought I would start a thread for those of us applying to HCC's Spring 2013 nursing program. I am a Veterinary Technician/stay at home mom. I'm gathering everything for my application and hoping to drop it off at HCC soon. The deadline isn't until 6/1 but they recommend turning it in at least 30 days in advance. I'm a current HCC student. I was planning on applying for Fall this year, but am now expecting a little girl to arrive in July so spring it is! My pre-req GPA is 3.86 (all A's and 1 B), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program for DM evening classes. Good luck to all!
It's been quiet here the past few days. Orientation is only about a month away now! Any of our alternates or appeals hear any news yet?
I spoke to someone in the Nursing department early last week and the appeals committee met today. I believe the alternates and appeals should know something by the end of next week. I am an alternate, so I'm anxiously awaiting my answer LOL :)
I heard the same, they said they will be mailing out letters next week so we should know something soon :) I'm an appealer and am crossing my fingers they let me in! I've been accepted to Galen's LPN program which starts Nov 5th just in case I don't get accepted by HCC. Their schedule is pretty brutal- evening session is Mon-Thur 5pm-10pm with occasional Friday or Saturday clinicals. I'm working FT M-F, 8-5 so I'm really looking forward to an acceptance letter from HCC, but if not I'm glad to have a Plan B :) Good luck to all the alternates/appealers out there!!
Woo hoo I just went to search sections and noticed they posted the schedules for the nursing courses for spring! I hope everyone gets what they wanted! I cant wait to get my assignment!!
So I am getting really impatient while I'm waiting to hear back about whether I am in or not. I called HCC this afternoon and they said they don't know when we will be notified exactly, but soon. Also, it could be as late as after orientation. She didn't tell me this, but I think that most people will be notified within the next week or so, and if there are people that don't get everything done, they may have a few more spots and will let a few people in around the time of orientation. I also asked if we weren't accepted, would we be notified. She wasn't sure. I am telling you, they are not much help and that is not helping my patience much. I really hope we hear something this week.
I had the teethers (sp?) done since my old ped. dr is no longer around and my mom didn't keep the records. I am fine on Polio but for some reason, the MMR i had done, didn't register. Have to get that shot done again
I think we will hear something a little before orientation, if i look at the other semesters thats when they received theirs. Hopefully by mail and soon!
