Hi everyone!
I know it's a little early, but is anyone out there applying to HCC's Nursing program starting Spring 2016? I am, and I'm dying for this semester to be over so I can submit my app! Just wanted to start the discussion since no one else has!
Hey, I have a question about lab times..I'm not sure if you attend the evening/weekend program, but do they make those accessible during those times? How many lab hours must you complete per week? And I'm guessing it's mandatory? On the HCC nursing page I saw a lab time calendar for the month and they all seemed to be during the week during daytime hours.. 😕 thanks for answering our questions!
Sorry for the delayed response. I did do the night/weekend option. It depends on your instructor each semester, but typically around 20 hours for the whole semester. They do periodically keep the lab open until 8pm or so. You can also go to the Plant City campus lab if you get desperate and need different hours. There aren't weekend lab hours however.
Hi you all! I'm only one semester ahead of you guys. I'd recommend someone starts a FB page and posts the link here, so yal can get to know each other and share info. By the time you all meet in orientation, wont be that akward Also, do not start buying supplies yet, bp cuffs, pulse oximeters wont be allowed in hospitals as they use their own, unless you're just buying it to practice at home. I'd say, save your money and invest on good shoes and good stethoscope. I'll be happy to answer as many questions as I can. Congrats to all the people that got in. And to those waiting, in my class, there was alot of alternates called, lowest gpa i'm aware of is 3.1, so keep your chin up. Take care!
Hey everyone! I will be applying before the June 1st deadline as well, but I was wondering if anyone could helpt me with something. I wanted to know if your spot in the program depended on your pre-req GPA or your overall GPA. I have one semester left, and I will be taking Microbiology and Anatomy 2, both consisting of labs as well. If everything goes well I should finish the semester with two B's and all A's. I was just wondering about the pre-req GPA vs. overall GPA. I just want this upcoming semester to be over already so I can apply, im as excited as I am anxious!
Hello! I start this Spring and I know how you feel. It seems to take forever just to get to the point of applying. Well unless they change the entry guidelines your acceptance into the HCC Nursing program is based on your pre-req GPA and the condition that you pass the TEAS test with at least a score of 60. Good luck! Here's a link to our Facebook page for the Plant City Campus. https://www.facebook.com/groups/443385569196065/

As of now I bought some penlights off of eBay. As far as stethoscopes go I know the program recommends the Littmann Classic 2 but I am leaning towards the Littmann Cardiology 3.
