Hillsborough Community College Spring 2016 Applicants

Published

Hi everyone!

I know it's a little early, but is anyone out there applying to HCC's Nursing program starting Spring 2016? I am, and I'm dying for this semester to be over so I can submit my app! Just wanted to start the discussion since no one else has!

I can't believe we have possibly have to wait up until Oct 12th for campus assignments..I guess it is so they have enough time to get the accepted seat forms, and get the alternates in their seats...I need to know NOW. I don't like all this waiting!

My gpa was 3.48 so hopefully that means I got in. Still no letter to clarify though lol

You never got it Saturday..? I really hope you get in, considering my GPA was lower than yours, I'm sure you are accepted!

I got in! I called today and my letter was sent to my old address. I had recently moved and emailed them the new address but I guess it was disregarded. I'm just happy to finally have closure lol!

Congrats to everyone. Now to start buying all the stuff we need and then the dreaded cost of books haha.

I already have a bunch of useful books and notes from when I was in nursing school before! And when I mean notes I mean thousands of notecards (no joke) lol! But yes I'm dreading the expenses!

So it looks like we all got in, that is awesome. Congrats again to everyone.

Hi! I still have not gotten my letter. Who did you call?

Hi! I still have not gotten my letter. Who did you call?

I called the admissions office at student services and spoke with Mrs. Hernandez.

I don't know who I talked to but she told me to email Health sciences....

Yay Haley you got in! It'll be nice seeing a familiar face!!

JingJingTaco, Ms. Lourdes Hernandez is a sweetheart and I hope she gives you good news.

I started working on retrieving my immunization records, setting up a doctor's appt. is on my list of things to do for this week.

I registered for a CPR for Healthcare Provider class. I checked the Red Cross and Florida Hospital and they charge $75 vs. this company at $50. They also have a calendar of classes in areas all around Tampa that include Saturdays. They will give you your card after the class is done. They are AHA certifications so it's legit.

I'm not a paid sponsor or anything, just hoping it's helping those who need it. And please don't get all nervous and scared that you're not going to get certified. I used to teach these courses regularly and they're made for you to walk away with the certification and clear understanding. There are no trick questions and all the information is drilled into you. In order for you to not pass you'd have to have some serious problems buttoning your pants or pulling on your socks before your shoes.

I'm wondering if I still need my immunizations updated. I was in nursing school summer of 2014 and had all my shots that summer. I'm also CPR certified but I believe it only lasts for a year. Not quite sure about any of that but I plan on asking tomorrow after class.
