hello and welcome to allnurses.com

so good to have you with us. i moved your thread to the indiana forum for a better response.

enjoy the site.:balloons:

In my county it is anywhere from minimum 5.15 an hour to 10 maximum. Keep in mind cost of living is quite a bit lower than in California. Most jobs are about 7 dollars an hour for NA. Of course the big cities might pay more. With 3 kids it might not be worth the childcare costs to work here. Be ready to spend a ton of money on school fees for public school - Indiana requires parents to pay book and supply fees. Also winter clothes are expensive for 3 kids and adults too. Now wish I could trade places and in live in warm California - but it probably has it's problems too.

Hey - welcome to Indiana! I know it has it's drawbacks, that tonic so wonderfully explained, but it is also a great place to live. Just like anything else, it's what you make of it. Get involved in your community and I am sure it will feel like 'home' in no time!

By the way, I'm Traci - from South of Indy - and a pre-nursing student 'awaiting the letters'.

Again, Welcome!!

Hello and welcome to allnurses.

Hi Stephanie,

Welcome to Indiana. I have a friend who is a CNA at a hospital in north central Indiana & she loves her job. Don't know how much she makes, but she gets tuition assistance (she is in school for her RN) & they work around her school schedule. She says it works great for her.

I have four kids & am a stay at home mom. We make it work on my husband's salary & do ok even though it's tight. I think in the overall scheme of things, Indiana is a less expensive state to live in than CA. I'm sure there are good & bad things about every place you live, but I love the "small town" feel of Indiana.

As Traci said, you find your own enjoyment wherever you live & Indiana can be be as good as anywhere if you make it so.

Best Wishes,

Heather

I was a CNA/ PCT in southern IN several years ago, and made $11.50/hr working in a hospital - only $9.00 when I worked in a nursing home. The hospital was great experience though (I worked while getting by BSN). Good luck!

Depends on where you go...I am a BSN student and was offered $12.50 for CNA work at a nursing home, not sure how much straight CNA pay is... university gossip tells me around $10-11. If you have a couple of years experience, you might want to consider home care, I think it pays more and there are ALWAYS ads for it in the Indianapolis area.
