Hi,
Psychology has always resonated with me for some reason and I'm just curious about the pay.
I think I may even choose psych nursing even if the pay is a little lower. What do you like about your job and what don't you like?

Unless you are going towards your Doctorate in Psych...don't waste your time and money in Psychology if Pay is the issue. However, psych nurses pay is much dependent upon where you work...in the community, you tend to make less...in the hospital, you tend to make as much as the other nurses. Psych and non-psych nurses all go to nursing school. If you become an Advanced Practice nurse (Masters level), you can make more...again, depending upon your specialty.

Hi there,
Here in canada you just as much as a "regular" nurse as we both go to school to become a nurse in some form or another. We are governemed by the same union and therefore have the same pay.
In some areas we even get paid more as our services are desperately required.

When I worked psych the pay was less than med/surg but the working conditions were better... The less pay was worth it! Also... Med/surg was union and psych was not so it really depends on where you work.
