Hello all,
As i mentioned above ^, I am a new nursing student. I am so overwhelmed and it's only been the 1st week! This weekend I got so sick w/ a stomach flu and have not completed any of my readings. Do you guys have any tips on how to read these books and how to study? So far the classes I've had to read for are Fundamentals of Nursing and Pharmacology (which I don't have the book for yet)... ANY TIPS would be helpful! Thanks

I don't start until October but I'm nervous as well! I have heard that you should pay close attention to the graphs and charts and highlight information pertaining to them. trying to just read everything will burn you out.

At the moment, I should be studying for my exam tomorrow. I hope that I am able to pull it all together. I've studied for 2 days, but that's it. I haven't even opened my book and am just studying our powerpoints, handouts, in class notes and unit objectives. I'm overwhelmed just with that. I'll know by 1:00 tomorrow if the whole "not opening the book" thing worked or not. I'm smart and can think through a problem, but the huge amount of information I've had thrown at me for the last two weeks is shocking!
I hope that you're able to pull it together and figure out what works for you. Good luck.
yes! it's def overwhelming w/ all that is being thrown at us! I am just trying to ready class powerpoints myself for now. I need to learn a mechanism for nursing as I've only just begun classes, IDK where to start.! GOOD LUCK! LET ME KNOW HOW EVERYTHING TURNS OUT...IM SURE YOU'LL DO GREAT! =)
Thanks! Im studying all graphs and charts b/c i was told the same thing! Wish me luck! And best of luck to you!

Oh how I miss my old nursing school.. Here are my study tips: flashcards (especially for pharm), make your own study guides, study groups if that's your thing find a buddy, anything important high light it, on tests if its having to do with a nursing intervention/action the answer is most likely what should be done first. A lot of theory class is memorization, but when you start physically doing stuff in clinical the things you read make more sense- you can'picture what your reading. Take notes in lecture! I am a self learner so lecture didn't do much for me but my teacher was good and her stories and experience helped. Good luck to you!
Thank you so much! So helpful! Quick question, what were your techniques for note taking during lecture?? Im stuck between using my laptop and handwriting my notes!
