Jaime, welcome to the profession. I love kids too, but you need to be aware that it could take several years to reach your goal. It's hard enough for new RN/LVN grads to get into a specialty area right way, it's almost impossible for newly certed CNAs. You will have to put in your time elsewhere, like LTC or medsurg, before going into a peds unit.

Hi,
I am looking into becoming a CNA. I really want to work in the children's hospital, and would love to work in prdiatric oncology or BMT. I was wondering if any of you work in pediatrics and could tell me more about the responsibilities of the CNA, and what my supervising nurse would expect from me.
I was also wondering about payscales for CNA's in hospitals?
Is there a difference between a CNA and a PCT, i have seen both trainings and don't know which one to take, or if i should take both.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. Any info you can give me is appreciated.
Jaime
