First of all congrats on working on your GED! I would check and see what colleges are in your area and go from there. :wink2:

hi, angeleyes22!

once you get your ged you need to start college. you need to go to a nursing school first. most nursing schools are within colleges. you also need to decide whether you want to become an lpn (licensed practical nurse) or an rn (registered nurse). you have to become one of these first. after that you look for your first job on an ob unit of a hospital or with a gyn doctor's practice where you will get additional on the job training. you can usually get a list of the state board approved nursing schools in your state by going to the website of your state board of nursing. there are weblinks to all the state boards of nursing at the top right of this webpage under the button "links". most states list this information. these are two sites that i know of that also list nursing schools, but i know for a fact that one of the lists is not complete:

http://www.lopez1.com/lopez/nursing.schools.htm - listings of nursing schools by state-this is not an official state board list

http://nsweb.nursingspectrum.com/education/ - a listing of nursing schools by state with links to their web sites. the list is not comprehensive.

here are links that you should explore about the career of nursing:

welcome to allnurses! :welcome:
