HHA or ER unit assistant?

So I'm juggling between 2 offers. I would love to work in the ER, but I feel like HHA will give me more opportunities to refine some of the basic skills of bedside nursing. Although the ER position sees more critical problems (obviously), and they teach us how to remove staples and other skills. Which position do you think would be more beneficial in the long run and make me a more ideal candidate with the experiences I'll gain in that field? Ideally, I would juggle both positions since I have my summer off, but it seems the scheduling won't work out.

For overall assessment and exposure to lots of variety, including psych that applies in every setting, I'd take ER. For continuity of care and family and environmental assessment that is so vey often out of sight, out of mind in nursing education, I'd take home health.

Thank you, GrnTea! You always have a way of simplifying things. I will have a difficult time deciding, since they are both great opportunities.

oh I would jump at ER tech! Lucky you!

Well another factoring in to help you decide maybe, is your school load/family responsibilities? HHA at times could be a lot more relaxing.

Good luck deciding.

Well, I am an adrenaline junkie. I have a lot of experience working in various high stress environments, so I am able to keep a leveled head and multitask in fast-paced settings. However, I really enjoy the staff and their enthusiasm of the facility that I would be an HHA at (even though I probably won't be seeing them too often during my work). I'm really being pulled in 2 different directions. I'm seeing if I can work the hours out so I'd be able to do both. I think they would both give me a broad overview of various skills and would definitely be great experiences!
