Hesi Tips needed!

Published

I am in my last semester of LPN-RN. currently I am not passing either peds (73.6) or Medsurg 3 (71.6) as we need a 75 to pass but the good thing is my grades have increased steadily and i have 2 test and a final in each class to pass. But i am soo worried about the hesi exit! When i took my LPN exit i passed but barley but passed with flying colors on my PN-CLEX (75 questions). My question is, is the test like Nclex or is it something different. I also need tips on how to study because I took practice tests and found out that either I make high 60's to low 80's! Alot of this stuff on the test is stuff we havent even heard of yet!

If most of the stuff on the test is stuff you've never heard of, it sounds like your school is not doing a good job at preparing you. I bought the HESI study book (red cover) and I found it to be pretty helpful.

It's not most, it's just alot of stuff we haven't covered. My first two semesters went by without a hitch, but then BAM! This last one is no joke! I just dont know. Though it seems this test follows a pattern. It asks about some meds Ive never heard of or is mostly about safety or infections.

I am Retaking my HESI LPN exam on Tuesday. Does anyone know or remeber if it is the same test? Anyone have any hints or anything about the test I need to know?

You won't get the same HESI exam if you have to retake it. Best advice I can give you is look at the HESI hints again, practice more questions and if you have access to the topics you missed on the HESI look at those and study them. There's several versions each HESI exam so it's really hard to tell what will be on the exam.

Yes I have studied so much now!

I think our school only purchases one hesi though

Because a previous student retook it 3 times

Same test. Our comprehensive ATI. Same repeat test. I passed the first time. But classmates took same one.

Luckily our class is about being a team and very helpful with teaching each other and studying together!

I am actually reviewing the RN hesi hints I found..

All of hints.....are from our first hesi test.

Update: I passed my Exit Hesi first time around with a 940 just using the hesi book and having review time with my classmates! The class avg was 975 everyone passed except two but the failed by less than 10 points! I'm not out of the woods yet! I still have to bring my 71.6 in medsurg and 73.66 in peds to a 75 both which are doable as I have 2 tests and a final in both left! I have stopped working to focus on graduating!

That is awesome. Congrats. I'm sure you can pass both Med Surg and Peds. With two tests and a final that's definitely a possibility.
