What's the best way to study for this?

If you're referring to the non-entrance HESI's, in my opionion use Saunder's review and test questions + the HESI review book outline. :)

Hesi-interim-- Know the HESI review book Med-Surg portion inside & out.

Hesi-exit-- Utilize the advanced clinical concepts section and you're good!!

So much of this information is restated right in the exams. I did this and scored in the 1150s on both. Good luck!!

Hey,

I take my hesi exit exam on March 30,2006 I have to make a 900 to pass. I have been studying the hesi book and the disk. I do well on the questions in the book but I cant pass the tests on the disk. Could you tell me more about how to study for this test? When did you take your exam?

thanks

Oh my goodness, don't pay attention to the scores on that disk! My classmates and I all had the book and disk to study by, and we were all having trouble scoring higher than in the 70ish percentile according to the disk's scoring. Well, we all took the HESI exit exam in January, and we all passed it with a class average percentile above 90.

The disk is good for practice, but the questions are all weighted equally, while the "real" exam apparently has different penalties for questions missed based on how difficult the questions are judged to be.

The HESI hints have been helpful to me on the past exams.

Hello, I am new here and need some help with the hesi. I am graduating in May, and have one more chance to take the hesi. I need and 850 and I recevied a 790 the first time. Is it possible to bring my score up that much? Any study tips, to take this test? Anything will help..I am scared!! Janice

Hi Janice, you can do this! Pls don't be scared because that could cost you. Just relax your nerves and tell yourself you can DO IT. I believe you can!

I've been told Saunders comprehensive review is very helpful. i'm using that too with the CD that comes with it. I intend to do the HESI CD questions and see how much I've learnt by few weeks before the test. But for now, I'm just doing Saunders...hope this helps

My advice is to get the HESI CD/book. Take the cumulative final exam on the HESI CD, look at the printout of where your weaknesses are, and use that to then study other brands of tests in the areas you are weak in. Try Kaplan and Saunders. Keep at it and do as many questions as you can in the areas you are weak in, and when you are doing better, try the HESI CD on the specific subject area you were weak in, and see how you do.

I don't recommend going over the wrong answers immedately when doing the HESI final practice exam, because you will just memorize the right answers and then of course you will do better and score better when you take it again. I think it really helped to use it as a gauge for what areas to study. When I took the practice final on the CD, I scored lowest on med-surg, specifically cardio. I studied everything I could get my hands on in that area, and when I took the HESI for real, it ended up being my BEST scored area.

But ultimately, doing many, many questions, and understanding the rationales will help. Good luck. :)
