HESI study help/recommendations

For those whose programs required the HESI. Did you buy any extra study books to help? For those that have used the HESI for comprehensive review for NCLEX rn book did it help with any of your hesi's? Trying to decide if I want to spend the extra money on other books. Thanks.

Here's what I did (got a 94 on the entrance HESI):

Studied the subjects in the HESI study guide that we would be tested on. Those were A&P, Math, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, and Grammar. The book was fine to study for most subjects except A&P. It was WAY to broad for that category. For that I would recommend basically reviewing your notes from A&P on the basic topics. The test will give you some very specific questions and is different every time. For example you might get 2-3 questions on stomach acids, or joints, or hormones. Make sure you are competent in A&P.

The math and grammar was way more involved than we actually had to know for the test. I was all worried about pronouns and long division and stuff like that but then when the test time came it was very basic math with access to a calculator. The grammar was basically knowledge that you would know if you are a native English speaker (I think it's to weed out those who don't have a good grasp of the language).

The other thing that helped me the most was getting an app someone mentioned here for the HESI from Pocket Prep. It cost like 9.99 but was totally worth it. I think I even saw some of the exact questions on the test later if I remember correctly. Good luck!

Thank you for the info, but I was looking for the info about the nursing course Hesi like fundamentals, med surg etc. I will check to see if they have a specialty app though. Thanks again.

Use the HESI review book for the NCLEX and pay attention to the HESI Hints :) You'll do fine
