I am taking my HESI fundamentals exam next week and was wondering if there were any resources, websites, etc that helped you prepare for this test? Any tips? I have seen older threads on here but nothing recent that I could find. Thanks for any help or insight you may be able to give a nervous student.

What program are you in? I'm taking my HESI block exit exam for Fundamentals next week too. I bought the 7th Ed. Saunders NCLEX online review and I have the 6th Ed. Saunders book that I'm studying off of. I was hoping someone that has already taken the block exit exam could give some feedback as to what they did to prepare as well. I am terrified! lol
I used the Saunder's book also. I'm thinking of buying the Hesi comprehensive review for nclex rn for the next test. We shall see I take it tomorrow. í ½í¸¬í ½í¹
The Saunders book was mentioned a lot by peers in higher blocks at my school. The professors recommended it a lot too. I think it's more effective than trying to go back and make sense of all the scattered assigned readings, at least for me. It covered a lot on fluids, electrolytes, acids & bases, patient safety, etc. Well let me know what you thought of the exam and how it goes for you, if you get the chance. Thanks and Good Luck!!!!!!

I took that exam today! That test was terrible!!! I have no idea what the heck was going on! The questions were so far fetched. I been studying out the Saunders NCLEX book and the hesi review book but they were seriously no help at all!!!!!!! I passed with 87 and a hesi grade of 1001. I cannot tell u how I did it. I felt like I was driving blind when taking that exam. It's basically an exam to test how good a guesser u are. I'm glad I passed but I thought it was ridiculous the questions that were on there. And pictures of dummies too. Insane.
Took mine yesterday and I have to agree. Those were nuts and your right with the pictures of the dummies. I had those also. i was like what the heck? I some how managed an 1130 with a 97.66%. Dont ask me how. None of the books helped. I did read about test taking strategies and that seemed to help more than anything

I was shocked too when the first time I took my Fundamentals HESI at the end of the first term I got a 1067 and during term 4 I got a 1004. Doing questions and test taking strategies help a lot that's for sure. The HESI book is good when you want to get a good review in terms of content and the HESI hints are important as well. Take how you prepared for this HESI and use the same strategy when you take your other HESIs. My guess is you used ADPIE right? Another thing I want to add is always think what you're going to do as a "Nurse" = Nursing actions. I have a habit of thinking medically (doctor wise) and not a nurse. It took me until my final attempt the Exit HESI to realize that. Now I have to re-take the entire term again.

I have to retake my fundamental hesi...what do you recommend?
What all have you looked at? I would say take lots of questions mainly to read the rationale behind it. Do not read into the questions I know many in my class that did that and didn't pass. Read up on test taking strategies. There were a few posts on here about that. Just search for them. I feel reading rationales and looking into test taking strategies really helped me. Since you have taken it once already you know how the questions are. Did you miss them because you didnt know or because you were stuck between two choices? If you didnt know study content if you were stuck look at strategies and rationales. They explain the why of it. I hope this helps.
I notice there was a couple questions that pertain to what you actually did in your foundations lab. All I did to prepare my self for that exam was do questions out the compressive hesi book and read the rationale. I honestly felt that didn't help, but I was told it was an subconscious way of learning . I made a 1001 on my hesi.

I take the HESI next week and i am so nervous. Do you think doing questions from the adaptive quizing will help in anyway? Also, can you please give me tips on what to do to prepare? Thank you.
Adaptive quizzing did not help me. I took a lot of questions using the nclex-rn book. Mainly reading rationales. I looked on this site for hesi help and found a few posts on test taking strategies that really seemed to help. If you have the Hesi comprehensive review book many have suggested that. I plan on buying for next semester though. Also search hesi fundamentals on quizlet. I found many practice tests on there also. I feel that the biggest thing that helped me were slowing down reading the questions looking at what it asked for. Do not read into the questions. Im not sure the other things really helped. Reading the rationales for the questions because it tells you the why of it. Just remember your nursing process and maslows. There were a few who would you assess first and they were not your cut and dry ABC. Lots of critical thinking. Hope this helps. Good luck.
