I took my HESI exit exam last week and passed with a 950... It was a very difficult exam ! I would recommend to stop focusing on content and try to work on answering nclex style questions. I find that you can answer many of the questions using context clues and what you know about prioritization. I've been using NCLEX 10,000 to do tons of questions. The more you do the less they trip you up.
0Hey guys,
So recently I did not pas my Hesi Exit exam.. I received a pretty low score, in fact, 70% of my class did not pass. The benchmark was 850, and a lot of people didn't achieve that. We are being allowed to take it a second time, which will be held on May 22nd. I need advice on how to be successful on this exam! If I don't pass, I can not walk in graduation.
Any advice? Study tips? Study resources? I've utilized evolve hesi exams, Kaplan q-bank, re-read notes from previous classes, and a test taking strategies course held at my school. I do not know what else to do.
Any little bit will help!
Thank you in advance : )
i failed the first time too. then i started doing a lot of practice questions at once to build stamina. i read the rationales, but i didn't go over a bunch of content. during the actual hesi, i took a lot of breaks to give my brain a rest and so i wouldn't start clicking random answers. my first score was a 750, then second time i took it i got 1021. it's all about stamina. good luck!

Wow that is a really fantastic score! Especially after receiving a 750! Congrats! Where did you get your practice questions from? Evolve? Books? I just need more resources!
So I was a first time failure (my class called it failures anonymous!) I had the opportunity to retake the exam after 1 month! My first grade was a 722.. To pass my school wanted you to get a 900. Second time around, I passed by doing 50 questions a day for a month! I used the NcLeX app and my favorite (your best grade) website! The first hesi I took I made a 722... Extremely disappoint! The second time I took the hesi I made a 921! I also took the NCLEX Review course! It also really helped me connect the "dots" of nursing!

i actually used this book:
Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN ... 5th Edition | Rent 9781437708257 | 1437708250
i really only did the online questions from that book and read ALL rationales. the first time i took the hesi, i was studying a lot of content and getting myself all worked up. the second time i only did practice questions to prepare.
another thing.. don't use too many different resources! honestly, you will just get overwhelmed. pick one or two books that you like and stick with that. the hesi and especially the nclex arent about content as much as they are about safety.
