  1. This was just last month! I interviewed in September and heard back from HR the second week in October. I called my HR department at the 2 week mark and the 3 week mark (got the call with an offer at 3 weeks and 2 days after my interview). I called because HR had a secretary that I could speak with... I would avoid calling the recruiter directly as I imagine it could annoy them. The secretary was able to look in the computer for me and let me know that I was still in the running for the job HR just hadn't heard back from the units nurse manager and what her decision was. Your HR might not work the same though with the computer reflecting the status of your application (or they might not be willing to tell you until they've made a decision) Best of luck! The wait can be awful and I really started to doubt I had the job during the final week waiting but when you least expect it the phone call will come!
  2. I interviewed with HR and handed in my references during my interview and heard back 3 weeks later and got the job! It can take a long time... Especially at large hospitals
  3. I was in a similar situation to you and I just graduated from stony brooks 2 year nursing program. I got Cs in chemistry 1 and 2 at Boston university and i was nervous it would prevent me from getting into nursing school. I re-took chemistry 1 at Suffolk community college (I only had to re-take 1 course because only 1 chemistry is required for admission) and I got an A. I would not take chemistry at stony brook... it will be significantly more difficult than Suffolk and you need to get an A to prove you can do well in chemistry.
  4. In my hospital, if a patients condition deteriorates you call a rapid response... If they're pulseless and/or apneic you call a code blue. In a code blue anesthesia responds to intubate whereas in a rapid response anesthesia does not respond.
  5. Rent rent RENT... I never spent more than $150 on books in a semester. You use them then send them back at the end of the semester. I used Amazon and never had a problem. Now that I've graduated I'm Very grateful I don't have stacks of textbooks sitting in my room forever more.
  6. I took my HESI exit exam last week and passed with a 950... It was a very difficult exam ! I would recommend to stop focusing on content and try to work on answering nclex style questions. I find that you can answer many of the questions using context clues and what you know about prioritization. I've been using NCLEX 10,000 to do tons of questions. The more you do the less they trip you up.
  7. I'm confused, were you kicked out for starring at the patient or for bringing a tray in her room ?
  8. Just got the e-mail!!!! Accepted !!!
  9. I'm crossing my fingers for today!!
  10. Has anyone else not received an e-mail and have no changes on their solar account ??
  11. Hey do you guys have a bunch of different holds on you solar account? I have 5 different holds: financial response, conduct code, meningitis form, another financial response and health services. They just showed up in the last week so I'm trying to figure out if it means something!
  12. Long Island, NY: $19 an hour for days and $21 an hour for evenings/ nights
  13. Hey guys I just called stony brook to ask when the decisions will be sent out and they said mid to late april ! I wonder why they told some of you end of march....I thought we might hear back this week, the end of april is so far away
