Hi i need help!!!!!
I took the hesi exam a month ago and failed the reading vocab and grammer section, but passed the math! I dont know what to do, the vocab was very hard for me because i had no history of medical terminology. I went to a book store and purchased some medical terminology cards but its so many words to learn its such a broad subject! Does anyone have any advise or practice exam websites that would be helpful for me! I retake the exam in janurar!!!! Help is needed real soon. I feel like i am the only one who is having a hard time with how to study for this exam!

Hi tooky.I'm sorry to hear about you failing the first time, but don't get discouraged.I used the Evolve reach study guide book, the company who administers to Hesi.It was the only book I studied with for about a month for 2-3 set aside everyday and I did well.I hope you do well when you retake the exam.
Here is the link:

Good luck!
I do have that book....BUT how do I study the medical term part of it. Did you use the vocab section in the book to help you? Or didyou go beyond that.
THANKS FOR THE RESPOND!
Well, I'm not sure how the nursing program your applying to is if it's really in depth with medical terminology.I only studied and memorized the vocabulary 4rm that book and it was helpful for me because a lot of the vocabulary words were the same as those listed in the Hesi book, but if you need more practice maybe you should do some research on other nursing entrance exam books like Barron's or Kaplan's nursing entrance exam study guides. But, I wouldn't focus to hard on general nursing entrance exam books that are very related to the Hesi, because it may distract you from the Evolve reach format.

Hi Tooky, what college are you taking Hesi Exam for? i also failed my first try, but the school provided me with my exact errors. so i kinda know what to study now, maybe they have that option for you also.
Hope this helped,

For DSN Denver School of Nursing. I'm not sure if we could view the test though! Could we?I know we could see the scores.

Ok can someone please tell me exactly this HESI exam tests for? When I was in school, we took the NET (nurse entrance test). Is the NET phased out?

Have you tried making your own vocabulary index cards? I find that I learn better when I hand write the words. I know there are a lot! But what I do is make a pile of words I know, then the stack that I dont know I take about 10 and learn those first, test myself, get 10 more, and on and on until I learn all of them. I carry mine everywhere I go. Good Luck!! Let us know how you do.
Nyteshade- some schools still use the NET, some use the TEAS or the HESI A2. I think it depends on the school. I've took the NET when I was looking into LPN school and took the HESI 2 weeks ago (I'm going for my RN instead.) To me the HESI was a little more difficult.
I actually liked the Hesi much better than the NET,it may have been because I prepared more for the Hesi and really didn't for the NET.The thing I loved about the Hesi is that it let us spend more time on the section we personally needed more time on and just gave us 4 hours to finish the exam.We had to do all 7 sections though plus the critical thinking portion,I'm not sure how long they give you if your only tested over Math, reading, and grammar.
Thank You!!!! I have been using the index cards of med terms....I will see how it works!
