Lonestar ADN 2012

Nursing Students HESI

Published

Hello everybody. I am a pre-nursing student at Lonestar college and I was planning on taking the Hesi test Monday. I will be applying to North Harris as my first choice and Montgomery as my second choice. So far I have 8 points out of the 12 point scale and once I take the Hesi, that will determine if I will be accepted or not. I am currently taking Pharmacology. I have a 3.5 GPA and I have taken all my pre-req's plus some. The only part of the HESI Exam I am worried about is the A&P section. I hear all kinds of reviews on it and I am extremely nervous. If anybody can shed some light on this section of the HESI, I would greatly appreciate it.

I was just wondering if everyone not accepted got a alternet letter. I got a alternet letter last month for the LVN at Moco. I am going to the orentation in April and have done the back ground, shots, and turned on the letter to the school. fingers crossed I get into one of the programs!

@Ckfomby Not everyone gets a spot as an alternate. I just looked at each campus website, I found posted under the Q&A sections of the North Harris, Tomball, and MoCo, however Cy-fair does not have this information listed on their website.

There are somewhere between 10-20 alternate spots for each campus. Good luck!!!

NOTE: this information is in regards to the ADN program, I did not find how many spots were open for the LVN program

Thanks so much! That makes me feel a little more hopefull! :)))

March 30 - Checked the mail, NO LETTER YET

Hello,

Does anyone know if there are two different HESI exams? I am a student taking my pre req's @ San Jac and thinking about applying for Lonestar's nursing program this year (to attend in the Spring 2013). San Jac requires more pre req's than Lonestar (AP2, Micro, College Alg) so Im wondering if I try and apply for Lonestar that my AP 1 is not the same as Lonestar's AP1. So, how would a Lonestar student with only one A&P be able to compete with a San Jac student who has 3 Biologys in regards to the HESI) sorry if this is a confusing question.

Tks for the replys

Ekmah04, You definitely need to complete both A&P I & II in order to pass the A&P section on the HESI at Lone Star. I am not sure if this answers you question. If it does not please rephrase you question.

It's all the same Hesi but different schools require different sections. However, if you look at our scores list above, Lonestar may not require you to complete the three bios to apply, but you basically have to to get into the program or your points will be too low. As far as taking the Hesi, it seemed to mostly be just AP1 the way lonestar does it. However at San Jac I don't think y'all split it up the way we do. My friend is taking AP at San Jac now and they aren't doing anatomy in one semester and physiology in the other...so I'd say I'd want both classes at San Jac for sure before I took it.

So basically, You're right....a student who only took one science class wouldn't be able to compete on the HESI with someone who's taken 3 sciences. But everyone with a high score has taken at least 2 out of 3 by the time they've applied, so it's kind of a moot point. If you only took the three basic classes you aren't getting in, anyway.

@Stephalump I did not take A&P classes at Lone Star. I completed the classes at HCC, and we did not cover a good portion of material tested within the HESI during A&P I. The majority of material on the HESI came from the A&P II course I took at HCC. This could be the case for San Jac students as well, that is why I encourage others to complete both A&P classes prior to taking the HESI.

There hasn't been very much chatter in the last few days. Is there another blog to follow? I did see one that had more people participating but can't find it now. I also read on that page that the letters have been held up by a problem at North Harris.... Or at least that is the case for the NH letters. It said they wouldn't be mailed out for another 2 weeks. (I read it a week ago) I have to ask anyway ANY LETTERS YET???

no, haven't received one either. i am hoping the easter bunny brings mine, lol

I meet a lady at Moco that got her acceptence letter the week before Spring break! She had a 11.8, great score! She had the letter in hand! She also says a few of her friends have gotten their alternet letters??? I don't know what is going on.

@Ckfomby The LVN program at Montgomery sent out acceptance letters right before spring break, not the ADN program. The ADN program closed their application period at 4pm on Friday before spring break. The ADN program letters have not been received by anyone yet, nor would someone have received a letter for the ADN program before the application period closed.
