I primarily studied from the Elsevier HESI study guide and the Complete Idiot's Guide to Nursing Entrance Exams (cheap at Half Price books!). I went through every section of both books and took the practice tests included. Between the two books, it covered everything I needed to know.
I found the Math section long.. not so much difficult, just very time consuming. The A&P was straightforward and general concepts (not details). The reading comprehension gave me the most trouble, despite the fact that I am typically an excellent English student. The guides cover what you need to know.. don't take it for granted that you already know it! I wasn't required to take the physics and chemistry sections.
The critical thinking portion is what worried me the most because I didn't know how to prepare. Really, you can't prepare. It's just based on what you would do, or how you would handle a situation. Technically there isn't a 'wrong' answer.
Good luck to those of you who are taking the test soon! The best advice I can give you, is review those study guides repeatedly!
Congrats on your great scores!
I took the LVN HESI two weeks ago and got an overall 95. However, I have to go back and take BIO and A&P since I'm going to apply for RN, too. I'm glad to hear the book covers it well. I have that HESI Assessment guide. I used it to study for the Math and Vocabulary and Quizlet was great, too.

Yes, yes!! That guide is the best! Study what's in it, every bit of it. :)
