Has anybody have experience with the HeRO graft?

It's a hybrid of a CVC+AVG. (pretty cool idea!) HeRO Graft

It's indicated for catheter depended patients due to central stenosis and also for those running out (or ran out) of peripheral vascular access options!

Please share your experience if you have come across it in the clinical area.

Thanks!

I had a patient in PCU with one the other day...

Stay out of the coil when cannulating and don't let their bp bottom out or it will clot. NEVER EVER EVER EVER CLAMP ONE. EVER!!!! They have this as a last option. Take the time to hold sites.

NEVER. EVER. CLAMP. a HERO graft. I agree. Take time to hold the arm. Discharge patient with band-aid on. DO NOT use an occlusive dressing (rolled gauze). Always wait for the site to clot then put a band-aid on.

Why not the rolled gauze? Never heard that so I'm curious. We have two hero grafts at our clinic. Maybe I'm doing it wrong [emoji37]

I've seen 2. 1 of them never worked. The other one would never stop bleeding. Every treatment, excessive bleeding.
