Hi . My patient have acute hepatitis. I was removing the spike from the used NS bag and the solution got in my mouth. I could taste the NS after in my mouth. Is there a chance for infection?
No. The saline was from the bag not from the pts bloodstream. Even if the NSS wasn't on a pump gravity doesn't allow for blood to travel upwards into the bag of IVF.

Did you report the exposure per your facility's policy/protocol? This will be addressed by those who are responsible for tracking and treating exposures.
