Hep B and side effects

Published

Hi all. I have been feeling pretty lowsy the last few days. Really dizzy at first now really weak. Feel like I have NO energy. I just got a PPD test done and thought perhaps it was that, but I have had one before and did not have symptoms like this. I checked with the nurse at the clinic and she said that she has given thousands of these PPD shots and no one has ever felt like this afterwards.

I am wondering... I got my last Hep B vaccine (in the series of three) exactly a month ago. I read somewhere that it takes up to two months for your body to build the complete antibodies to Hep after the last shot. I am wondering if this weakness dizziness is from my body trying to build the antibodies to the Hep. I was very tired from two big RN tests this past week, but I have slept and taken it easy, so by now I should have bounced back from the stress of the tests. I am not tired now, just really weak. Does anyone know if Hep B makes you feel like crud when it's actually kicking in?? Anyone ever had this before?? Thanks... Epona

Oops... I meant Hep C. Not B. Sorry.

Hmmm.. I am not aware of an immunization for Hep C.

There currently is no immunization for Hep C...

Geezz... Sorry everyone. I meant Hep B. Yup.. the brain is gone.

Anyone ever feel crummy about a month after getting their last Hep B in the series??? :(

nope, but can you contact the clinic where you had the immunization done? do you have access to an immunization hand book indicating the side effects?

the australian immunisation handbook which is the "gold standard" used in our country lists the following:

[color=deepskyblue]adverse events and precautions

adverse events after hepatitis b vaccination are transient and minor, and include soreness at the injection site (5%), fever (2 to 3%, usually low grade), nausea, dizziness, malaise, myalgia and arthralgia. fever can be expected in 0.6 to 3.7% of neonates immunised with hepatitis b vaccine.

anaphylaxis has been reported very rarely in adults. although various adverse events such as demyelinating diseases, guillain-barré syndrome and arthritis have been reported, there is no evidence of a causal relationship with hepatitis b vaccination.23 there have been a few reports of generalised febrile reactions attributed to yeast allergy, and exceptional instances of polyarteritis nodosa have been reported.

adverse events related to components in the multivalent/combination vaccines are covered in the appropriate chapters."

its a great reference by the way. its free off the net. i know it isn't american and thus probably doesn't match your schedules, and of course would have some local differences, but who knows, you may find it interesting...

Thank you very much dar15. Whatever this is, hopefully it'll just go away as mysteriously as it came. THANKS for trying to help. :) Have a blessed day. E
