Just found out that Henry Ford Hospital has an on-site, one day a week BSN program through U of D of Mercy! They offer loan forgiveness, up to $14,000 with a committment of three years with the Henry ford system. They also offer 3,000 for tuition reimbursement a year! :yeah:They also have a MSN program onsite as well. I am really loving Henry Ford right now. Oh yeah, the hospital isn't so bad either. It's actually better than any hospital I have been to. Great retirement pension plans and extra incentives for midnight nurses.
Well that's all I know, got to go, bye
does this hospital have a loan forgiveness progam? i think in some hospitals will pay all the tuition if they work for that hospital about a year. what if this hospital pays all the tutition and during the those 3 years something comes up and a person have to move to another state or there is a better position with better offer? are they going to cancel the contract and the tuition payment?do you have to apply for this program at u of d or at henry ford hospital?
thats the same issue i had, i heard its a great program. but i don't think i want to be committed to work for hfh for three years and on top of that it takes three years to finish the program. hfh is a great hospital, but who knows what other oppurtunities in possibly other health systems may come along within that time period.

Three years does seem like a long time to committ but for me, I plan on staying at HF after I get my BSN and hopefully MSN. Their educational loans and tuition are the highest compared to some other hospitals, so that was one of the incentives for me to leave my last job and go to HF.
Yes the hospital does have a partnership with U of D Mercy, I don't have all the details because I am focused on finishing my ADN the the HFCC HFHS partnership program (which is going superb btw) I attend Nursing classes at the bldg where U of D students also attend. I talked to a student who said it was an excellent program, HFHS does pay tuition reimbursement and an additional amount toward your classes but not all of it (because of course U of D is rather expensive) and you'd be responsible for paying the rest once you're done or however they work it out while you are attending. If anyone is interested I can get the info from school and post it later.
Also the not so bad thing about HFHS (and I wouldn't have known this if I weren't in their Nursing program to find out) is that they offer careers for life literally. I am not even being paid by HFHS yet, however I was really hung up on the idea that I didn't want to be stuck with HFHS because they are paying for me to go to school, but they have so many opportunities for whatever it is you are looking to do. Diversity in Detroit and the brand new hospital opening soon in bloomfield hills as well as the many different hospitals located around the Michigan area so that if you are looking for something different there is no reason you should not be able to find it within the HFHS.
However I do respect those views of you who'd feel like its always nice to have options without penalties.

Just read some info on HF's tuition program. They do have loan forgiveness. If you are an employee and pursuing an adn, BSN, BSN completion or MSN they do have loan forgiveness up to 14k. That's in addition to tuition reimbursement which is 3k per year. This is more than what some of the other hospitals offer from what I heard.
