Does anyone out there that goes to Excelsior or other distance learning have any information on Nursing Concepts 5.

I am looking primarily for the 100 things to know..... Have for others but not for this one.

I would appreciate ANY help or advise on where to find.

Thanks and if anyone needs any additional info on any NC's.-4.

What is this 100 things to know and does it concern all the nc exams?

A while back someone (I assume an EC student or former student) put together a list of what they thought were the 100 most important concepts to know for each NC exam. I think they are often found on Yahoo Groups concerning EC.

yes bonnie i am about to take nc2 and i would love any info you can give me, i have test anxiety fortunately i am able to get myself together during the test, is nc2 difficult? i want to test out and go immediately into nc3 about how long did you study for each? i really want to get this done by next year.

The 100 Things to Know are good, but I think they are becoming dated. The exams change from year to year but some of these 100TTK have been around for years and don't always reflect the latest exams. They are a good tool to use for review. I would highly recommend purchasing the practice exams from EC. It is money very well spent. I just purchased the one for A&P and am I glad I did! Unfortunately these exams weren't available when I first started at EC, but now are available for all NC exams, plus other EC exams. I have found that some of the questions on the purchased practice exams are on the real exam (or some form of the same question). You get 2 exams with 100 questions each, and the rationale for chosing the right answer. On the Yahoo EC sites you will also find Lisa's Notes (again, really helpful for review), and SETH tests for each NC exam. I have used all of them and am very glad for the help! Good luck with NC5!

I took NC2 today and passed with a B only going from the notes you can buy off of E-bay. True, you can find most of this information on Yahoo but they put it togeter for you for NC1-7. I did find that quite a few questions still related to the the old "100 things to know". I haven't taken any of the Excelsior practice tests but also have heard good things about them. Any help in your preparation is good right?

Under your nursing specialty it says :many too numerous to mention.

If you are an LPN, NC 2 is waived. You do not have to take it.

Each Exclesior class (NC's included) is a test, so in theory, you are already testing out when you take it and get a C or better.

Hope that helps

I thought that the practice tests from NC1 and NC3 from Excelsior College were helpful, however, the practice test from NC4 didn't help me much. It was a good over view though! :)

I bought all of the practice tests. The lowest grade I got on any NC exam was a B - on 3 (maternal and child bored me) and 5 (I didn't know neuro well, I think).

I also bought all the practice exams. Made two B's (A&P and NC1) and seven A's (Micro and the other NCs)! :) I thought taking practice exams from the school that writes the actual exam was my best bet. I never bothered with those SETH tests or whatever.

Be careful with what materials you find online to assist with your studies. I used a few of those SETH tests for review prior to testing when I was in school and found that they had many errors. Make sure you confirm all of the information with your books. It was a good way to review.
