HELP!!!!!TPAPN referral and I'm not sure why?!

U.S.A. Texas

Long story bit stick with me....I need all the help i can get!! I am an LVN and I received a referral to participate in the TPAPN program here in Texas today. I resigned right before thanksgiving from my job at a behavioral health center where I was the medication nurse for the last 2 years. I made a clerical error. A new order for a medication (zoloft) came in and the patient was sound asleep snoring. I did not wake the patient because he had been detoxing and needed the sleep. As it was right before the holidays we were full which meant I had 31 other patients and I got busy and forgot to mark the medication not given in the EMR. The medication was never pulled from the pyxis. At the end of my shift I always went through the MARS one last time to make sure I had done everything. I saw the medication and clicked it and apparently marked it given instead of not given. The next day my CEO and DON pull me onto the office to ask what happened. I explained it was my fault and I could fix the problem. They said they saw the med was never pulled and that was how they knew i couldnt have given it but they wanted me on a leave of absence until further investigation was done. That was a Friday and on Monday I got the call saying they checked with HR and this was a fire able offense. I was given the opportunity to resign and did so. I took the time off to enjoy the holidays with my family which was something I haven't done in 4 years. Then I get the letter stating I had been referred to TPAPN. I have no idea why. I am losing my mind. I am scared for my license and scared for my family. I don't have any substance abuse problems and I don't have any psychological disorders. I take cymbalta to help with RA pain but that's it. I need HELP! I'm going to call the number they gave me but this seems a nightmare. Can they do this if I have no history of any problems??? Any advice is very much appreciated!

Not really sure what the problem is if you didn't pull the med from the Pyxis. There wouldn't of been a discrepancy, and it would of been simply an error of documentation. Could you not of gone back on the documentation and then edited with a comment. So it just kind of seems like there is something missing. If not then it does not seem fair what's going on here.

All this over Zoloft? What is going on with your case?

Specializes in ICU.

Doesn't make any sense. If there is nothing more to this, then you're fine. Don't worry too much about it.
