Very very nervous about trying out this nursing thing, I went to school in 2016 for CNA and I did pretty okay but after I got my certification I never worked and its now 2018 and Im still not working. I went to school for mental health and human services and got an associate's but I changed my mind and wanted to try nursing instead to be a RN. Can someone give me some of the steps that I can take towards getting into nursing school. Where do I stand in getting into nursing if I already have a degree in another field.

Check out a few nursing schools and see what they require, then evaluate whether or not you'd be a good candidate. And I don't think everyone needs to work as a CNA before becoming a nurse, but it would probably be good for you. You seem indecisive and should give yourself a reality check before you invest any more money and time in your education.

What Sour Lemon said. You may also want to try working as a CNA for a bit to see if you'd like nursing, get a feel for it, etc. I don't see where having a degree outside nursing would hurt. But as mentioned already, call up some schools, talk to a guidence counselor and see what might be a good fit for you. No, you don't have to work as a CNA to get into nursing or nursing school. I just (my opinion) think it is helpful.
