Read the threads in this forum regarding IENs and CABRN. The student and NCLEX forum won't be of much help if you cannot gain eligibility from CABRN. Technically CABRN requires licensure from the country of education. But more are being denied due to lack of concurrency of clinical, theory & cases. For example if your OB rotation was Jan-April 2008, you must have completed all theory, clinical, delivery assist and cord care before the semester ended in April 2008. If you completed even one required case on May 1, 2008 your coursework is not concurrent and you will be required to return to school before eligible for licensing as a nurse in CA.
One does not apply for the NCLEX but for a nursing license by examination. The NCLEX is but one step in the process.
Contact Cali BON, they will be the one who makes the call. Suggestion: I have done a couple of apps with Cali back a few years ago, and have done 3 application with Texas BON, with the 3rd one in process right now. I have found that sometimes you will find a idiot working at the BON and they have no clue what is going on. I always call back and confirm any answer I get.
Good Luck....

Hello everyone!
I graduated nursing from the Philippines September 2008 took the NLE but unfortunately did not pass. I now live in California as a permanent resident and thinking of pursuing my nursing career, my question is do it still need to go back to school or I can just apply and pass my requirements to take Nclex?
I really don't know what to do
thanks
