Help!!

Published

hey everyone, I posted on the nursing student section but I don't know if anyone knows anything about mini infusers..! I have a ? about mini infusers. Well I had one a few weeks ago in clinicals and I had a IVPB and a primary going. I connected the IVBP to the port above the pump and the mini infuser to the port closest to the patient. I moved the IVPB higher and put in the rate/ml and pressed run IVPB. Then I turned on the mini infuser. It was right bc my instructor didn't say otherwise I was just making sure that the IVBP and a mini infuser could be runned at the same time?? I didn't know this prior and also another ? when the mini infuser and IVBP are finished does it automatically switch over to the primary? If there was no primary going would the pump just turn off or what? Thanks!!

It is alright to ask your instructor about these things. Honest.

Beyond that, still entrenched in the nursing education thread: words fail me. "Runned"... really? As a group, we MUST do better than this.

As long as the meds you are running are compatible, there is no reason you can't run a primary, secondary, and mini pump together. In peds alot of our meds are administered in mini pumps so it is not unusual to administer primary IV fluids, a secondary med, and the mini pump med all at the same time.

thanks for the help!:D

The PB Main IV and Mini Infuser were all Compatible it was ok to run together. I probably would have run them seprately cause I get a little worried something might happen.
