hi guys and girls, as i am new in this field i have a case and i am really badly struggling :banghead::banghead::banghead: with it, kindly any expert nurse help me :cry::cry:.

the case is:

suzanne (not a real name) is a 67 year old woman admitted with breast cancer with known bony metastases and recent fracture left clavicle following a fall at home. medications; bonephos, morphine, arimidex admit for pain control, review chemistry, full blood count, review x ray left clavicle, rt referral.

what are the critical 4 question i may ask the patient and why, to plan the care as the doctor didn't have enough time to make note.

It sounds like this is a care plan you're working on for school, and that's YOUR work, not ours! However, review your textbook for cancer information and see what you can find there...

What have you got so far?

thank you for your reply and time reading it. i just want to tell you i am nurse and i am not in school anymore it is that i am applying for work in palliative care department and this an example for the questions i might be asked, i am not asking to make nursing care plan i am just asking what are the 4 critical questions that will help in making the nursing care plan. i know how to do history taking and all the health assessment and make a nursing care plan for other patients but in the case of cancer patients, they are in need for special care therefore in need for special questions to be asked. as a nurse in advanced care for cancer patients with advanced stages i think there are many things to be asked but how can we decide if this a critical question or not, and my future boss limited me with what i supposed to say. i am not expert here thats why i needed help from the expert people.

again whispera i heartly thank you for reading and replying.

Thank you so much for your reply, I appreciate it.

I have got to ask the patient if she is using any kind of CAM. this is because I will see what kind of alternative medicine she might be using so I will be sure it is not contradicting with the pain management I supposed to do. Also, I got to ask her about the pain. in other word I will assess her pain by asking her to describe the pain. This is because pain is subjective and the only way is to ask the patient if we need to provide proper care. because the doctor didnt assess her pain.

I really cant think further.

I am so thankful to you traumaRUs :):)

Before I made my earlier comment I tried to see if you were a student or not, and couldn't find any information. I assumed you were a student. There are often students asking us to do their work here. I apologise for my reaction.
