Help!!! with studying for exam...

hi, I was just wondering if anyone knew a good way to study for exams... I am in my last semester of Nursing and so far I am averaging a 68%... That means I am flunking and I don't know what to do... I was told by my instructors that I need to get at least an 80% on my next 2 exams if I want to graduate... I have no problems at Clinicals or with procedures...

I am 6 weeks away from graduating and I don't know what to do... I know the knowledge but the N-CLEX type questions on the exams I just can't seem to get them right... Does anyone know a good way to study??? So far we've done cardiac, respiratory, disaster nursing, shock, & next we'll be doing ethics, delegation, & burns...

I have always averaged a B and never had problems with my exams before but this semester I don't know what I'm doing wrong... I don't want to fail... please help... :crying2:

I am in the same boat! I feel like when I go into an exam that I know what I am talking about... and then I get to the questions, and my approach or strategy is all wrong. It seems to me like the tests are written differently. For example: during the first three semester there was a little bit of a rhythm to the questions and answers. Like, if a question had a word in it or a phrase in it that was a little unfarmiliar, usually SOME knowledge would precipitate a correct answer. Now- it's like reading a foriegn language. Not only am I second guessing myself, due to the previous bad grades, but I feel like my rationale is quite shaky. Maybe my nerves are at play here and I am not aware of it? That's all I can think of, or possibly because the NCLEX has gotten harder and the teachers "want to prepare us for it". Right. You got me- thanks for posting. I don't even know if I have any hope of passing anymore... I have about a 63% ave. And I'm used to high B's.

For me and many others the best way to study for nursing exams is to practice questions from an NCLEX book such as the one by Saunders. There are thousands of questions on the cd that comes with the book. Do the questions and read the rationales for the ones you get wrong.

Practice hundreds of NCLEX style questions, the more you do the better you'll get at answering these types of questions.

While in LPN school I got in the habit of doing 100-200 questions a week whether or not an exam was coming up. I'll be doing this again for RN school.

Well how'd you do it the previous semesters...?

Thanks, I will do that.. :)

Congratulations on making it this far! Definitely agree with the other members. NCLEX books are the way to go. To save money, go to the school and public library and do questions. Just tell yourself that you've seen it, read it, and talked about it. Never doubt yourself. Take 10min breaks every 45 minutes. Exercise and hydrate. To answer your question, practice NCLEX questions. Personally, I feel like all books are the same. If i had to choose...Id pick KAPLAN and SAUNDERS. Good Luck
