Hi,
I could use some input in my chances of getting into MCC Penn Valley. I am applying this January and if I don't get in then again next August 2015.
Here re is what I have so far:
CHEM 105- A
A&P I - A
PSYC 140- B
Pre-req GPA=3.5 (should give me 3.5 points)
TEAS score 84%
I am taking A&P II and Microbiology this spring in North Carolina.
My concern is my Compass scores. I did well in everything except Algebra. But I took College Algebra years ago and got a C so advising says I do not need to take the remedial classes.
What are my chances?????
thanks!

Hi!, I am also applying in January and I am super anxious. It looks like you have a great shot at getting in the first time applying Penn Valley doesn't require AP ll but you do receive 1 point for having micro completed. they only require 51.3% on the TEAS so you have an excellent chance oh and you're correct about College Algebra I did horrible on the compass test but I completed College Algebra with a C and advising also said I would not have to take any other math courses. Good luck! I hope we both get in!
Super excited to meet someone I may be in school with next fall.
My A&P class is at a college in North Carolina, it is similar to what UMKC would offer. I am only in NC for 1 year then moving back to KC. I checked with the head of Math & Science at Penn Valley and was told that A&P I and II would transfer as two separate classes (Anatomy & Physiology). I am not sure how the A&P I by itself will transfer, will have to just wait and see. I am really positive about getting in if I wait and apply Aug 2015. Just not sure about Jan 2015. Oh and I double checked my GPA, I think I have a 3.8 on those 3 nursing requirements.
Were you aware that they are changing the program?
I called a few weeks ago and talked to someone in the Nursing Department, and was told to keep watching the website because they are making changes. Nothing has been posted yet, but the Practical Nursing (LPN) program has changes listed already.
I'll just be happy when I get in, it will be a big milestone!
I completed both A&P l and ll at another local college and they both transferred fine. AP l will definitely satisfy the AP requirement with Penn Valley. 3.8 is a really good gpa I honestly think you may have an excellent chance. You and I are on the same page lol I have been stalking the website to find out what changes have been made the only change I've seen so far is the TEAS V score requirement Did you complete Micro? or is it still in progress? Penn Valley strongly advises that you complete it before applying.
I am taking Micro this spring with A&P II.
I will be super excited to get in. Best wish to you on getting in too.
