Ok, I have this question and I'm not sure how to answer.
" What is the major purpose of providing patient hygiene such as pericare and bathing?"
I want to say it is to prevent infections, but I need a more in depth answer for the review. Please tell me what you guys think.

Prevent skin breakdown. It's a good place to start. You can even cover digestive system (bowel movements), hydration level and kidney function.....
Good luck.

It might help to think of the skin as the body's largest organ, and the importance of having healthy, intact skin. Then picture problems with the skin such as burns, lacerations, wounds and diseases that compromise the skin integrity, and it'll help you to discuss the importance of healthy skin.
Thanks guys, that helps me out!:)

Infection control and skin integrity are definitely good answers. I know that my instructors would be impressed if I also mentioned something about the patient's dignity or body image. They love stuff like that.
