Help! Possibly relocating to DFW area

U.S.A. Texas

Published

My husband is most likely being relocated to DFW area. We have never been to Texas. We have no idea what area is best for a family. I currently work for HCA. How are the HCA facilities in the area? Which is the best to work for? Should I consider another employer? What is the pay for exerienced RNs? I have heard Flower Mound is nice, but clueless as to where that is in relation to everything else. Also, we have a 14 year old about to start high school, what is the best school district?

Medical City Dallas is a big HCA hospital in North Dallas. Have you looked there?

I have looked at their site and was impressed with what I saw. Thanks! Do you work there?

Medical City is a good hospital. Some floors are better than others, which seems to be the case at all hospitals, at least in the DFW area. I don't work there but had a sick child treated there. We got excellent care both on the pediatric unit and in PICU. Any of the local hospitals that start with Medical Center of ...... (insert name of city) are HCA facilities. Medical City is the only HCA facility here that has a different name.

No, I don't work there, but I interviewed there and was pretty impressed with the place overall. It was a tough decision for me, but I chose another, non profit facility. I just figured since you already work for HCA, you might be able to transfer or have a leg up on the competition!

Thanks Tammy. I am going to try and transfer, for sure. But I will probably keep my options open just in case. I can't wait to have an answer about my husband's job so we can get on with our lives. I applied to the ED and CCU before all this happened and now the ED has called for an interview. I will still go through with the interview, and if I get the job I will probably accept it so I can transfer to an ED there, hopefully. Thanks again!
