Ok....I need some help...in A&P. So far I've made all A's...but for some reason, now that we are into starting to study systems (on Skeletal System now)...I'm not "getting it." Any tools or resources that you have to help??? I'd greatly appreciate it...THANKS!!!

this is a neat trick that i got from another nurse.
buy a skeleton from a party shop, and label the bones!! you may have to add your own bones because not all skeletons have each and every bone, but it helped me a lot!
my skeleton had a lot of bones, and i only had to add a few pieces.
i still can see that thing in my head, and aced my exams.

You have to make cute names for the different bones and articulations for example "Hammy" the hamate bone sits next to "*****" pisiform. It's ridiculous but it totally worked for me on quizzes and exams. I would draw out each bone again and again and label each point and think up ridiculous names for each that would help me remember and then just keep drawing the bones over and over again and making myself fill in the different labels. Then I would go to lab with a partner and we would just work down the whole skeleton and point to different articulations and name them and we would go until we could get all of them without stopping.
There is a website I would recommend: http://msjensen.cehd.umn.edu/webanatomy/skeletal/default.html but nothing beats just drawing it out and naming the points or just going over the bones in lab with nothing to help you and just going over the bones again and again and again. It's just repetition until the words stick in your head. Anatomy is the most labor intensive class. Just break it down to each bone and just work on tht bone again and again until you have it down and then move onto the next. It's hard I know. It took me a while to "get it" but once I understood that it just amounts to hours on end of spending time going over the bones again and again and guess what...again I was able to do really well in that class and I am sure you will to. Good luck!!!

I borrowed my sister's skeleton that she had bought from her massage therapy school. It was extremely helpful-like another poster stated. I honestly aced every exam for the skeletal and muscular subjects. You have to go over and over them-this is purely memorization. Goodl luck-find your niche and you'll do fine!!!

i got a's in both of my a/p courses which was incredibly difficult to do. i was terrified about testing over the bones and muscles but this website helped tremendously. i am a very hands-on learner and need interactive tools and repetition to understand. i hope this website helps you as much as it has helped me!
