Hey gang...........I'm a freshman ADN student nurse and I'm having problems finding information on surgical procedures for my clinical paperwork, we have to cite our info from accredited sources and I would prefer to use an edu or org URL, my prof likes them. Anyways, I normally just type the procedure into my google tool bar but I've been getting some stuff that is really weird. It is either way over my head, like stuff for docs.....or I cannot use the info from the particular sites I get. Anybody got any ideas?? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated !!!! Thanks a bunch....in advance !!:uhoh3: Oh, BTW, I'm currently looking for subtotal palmar fasciectomy...some of the other procedures I have found very easily but with some of them I'm just having no luck

For that procedure, you may have more luck searching for the diagnosis, Dupuytren's contracture.

Again Eric, I thank you !!! I did find what I needed.....and as usual you are one of the only responses for help I can get. I really, really appreciate YOU!!

The surgical procedure that is done is actually a palmar fasciectomy with Z-Plasties and sometimes skin grafting. There are several articles on eMedicine that have information about the surgery. Just read through the information slowly, sentence by sentence until you "get it". Links to eMedicine and Surgical Tutor, two sites cited below, are listed on post #6 of this thread (https://allnurses.com/forums/f50/does-anyone-know-any-websites-196678.html) on the General Nursing Student Discussion Forum. You should bookmark them, or that post, and search on those sites whenever you are looking for information.

http://www.surgical-tutor.org.uk/data/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=9&PID=26 - this is a really nice post on the Surgical Tutor Forum (for medical students) in which the examination of a Dupuytren's contracture is detailed along with the medical decision-making process regarding treatment options.

http://www.tripdatabase.com/spider.html?pubid=306 - you can link into a bunch of photos of palmar fasciectomies. Scroll down to the bottom of the web page to find the links listed as "Dupuytrens:" I can't get into the pictures because I may not have a fast enough Internet connection.

http://www.emedicine.com/plastic/topic299.htm - Hand, Dupuytren Disease. Information on the different surgical procedures performed for this are listed halfway down the article.

http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic592.htm - Dupuytren Contracture. Use "Find" from your Edit menu bar to search for the word "fasciectomy" in the text of the article. The various fascietomies are described in the article.

DayTonite you are awesome !!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you
