help... nursing regrets

I think nursing is just one of those really high-stress fields all-around and a lot of those nurses may be overworked and understaffed. I'm not a nurse yet (taking prereq's) but I actually hear a lot about the negative parts to nursing. It's not an easy job, and I think if we (nurses) try to remember how stressed a lot of them are (comes with the job) I think we'd actually help each other out a little more. Just my 2 cents ;) I hope when I get into it, I remember this. Hang in there.

Nursing is not for everybody, and sometimes a person doesn't realize it until after the license is obtained and the job has been performed for a while. There's not a thing wrong with deciding it wasn't the right decision for you.

On the other hand, maybe the problem isn't nursing itself, but where you are working? I'm at my second facility, and the attitude here, in general, is much happier than the previous facility.

Has it been like this in every job you have had? Unfortunately there are people like that but there are also a lot of people that aren't. I have found that nurses/ etc. can be negative, extremely so, and that is contagious. Keep away from those types and hopefully it won't effect you so much.

I think a lot of it is where you work. I've been on floors with great camaraderie and teamwork, and other floors with low morale and backstabbing. Also the workload and support from management (or lack thereof) plays a huge role too.
