HELP!!! Night shift nursing

Published

Hey guys! I'm currently an RN in a job that I've been on for 2 1/2 years. I'm really stuck between a rock & a hard place. I've been on the waiting list for day shift since I started at this hospital. I've also been told that I'm going to be oriented to a specialized unit (that I was hired for), and still have yet to be oriented. Ive spoken with management and it seems to be going nowhere. I love my nurses I work with at nights and I love the patient genre that I care for, BUT I HATE night shift. Just wondering what anyone in this same position would do???? Help!! Welcoming any and all suggestions.

Do you have to be at this hospital? You have a few years experience, look around...the grass may be greener elsewhere. Otherwise I would say exactly that....Night shift and I are NOT compatible, I need to switch to days or I am going to leave (in a non threatening manner of course). It's one thing to be bratty after 2 months, but to ask nicely, with good reason, after having paid your dues....It's a matter of quality of life, by all means start finding a place where you will be happy. jmho :)
