How do you parents do it?
We had a care dot com sitter who came in the mornings when the kids were little. We are in a similar situation, both parents on shift work, sometimes opposite shifts with little kids and no family in the area. It's hard, but workable. I am sure the sitters aren't all as awesome as ours, but there must be other good ones out there! Good luck :)

HELP!!! Night shift nursing
Do you have to be at this hospital? You have a few years experience, look around...the grass may be greener elsewhere. Otherwise I would say exactly that....Night shift and I are NOT compatible, I need to switch to days or I am going to leave (in a non threatening manner of course). It's one thing to be bratty after 2 months, but to ask nicely, with good reason, after having paid your dues....It's a matter of quality of life, by all means start finding a place where you will be happy. jmho :)

How to start an IV
I am a new nurse too, and didn't feel confident with them either. My preceptor said pull up a chair, get comfortable, calm down and take your time. I haven't missed since! I think there was some mental block that it was an unattainable skill...

I Just Lost My First LPN Job
I would! I would also state exactly what they did....tell your prospective employer that a 30 patient load is just TOO much! I don't think that's quite a fair assessment of your abilities, and they should appreciate your honesty.

Florida nursing shortage?
Agree. I won't make 70k this year as an RN.

Florida nursing shortage?
Maybe I should add something useful: I work in the treasure coast area and we DO have lpn's on our acute care floor (PCU) so hospital jobs are out there. How frequently this occurs idk. I wish I could help you out with pay but I have no idea GOOD LUCK!

Florida nursing shortage?
LOLOL! Horrible, but seems to be true....

Have dress codes changed for clinical prep?
I seriously worry about the judgment of these students now, once they are nurses.....it just plain scares me. I cannot fathom the thought process involved in selecting an outfit like that in a professional setting.

Anyone else waiting in agony???
LOL! Yes. But I may not have anything helpful to say. 10 days after I graduated I got ATT, and 14 days was the Friday that I took it. I did the online Hurst review for about 36 hours before the test and nothing else. I was kinda a freak during school though and studied about 12 hours a day for the entire 2 years. By the time we were done I was so freaking burnt out! I can say that my classmates did the live Hurst and highly recommended it! I kinda felt jipped with the test since I focused so much on patho and pharma, they were my babies, and I didn't get to prove my awesomeness on that darn test!

Anyone else waiting in agony???
Took the beast, NCLEX-RN, Friday, 10/26 and have heard NOTHING. Had 75 questions and the good popup. While I am trying to stay positive as the hours go by I am losing my freaking mind! Ahhhhhhhhh!

Why do people belittle others to make themselves feel better?
They are mean, insecure and jealous! Uugh. Glad to be done with it.

PCT job in hospital while in ADN school--on Treasure Coast of FL
Magnet hospital? No idea. They do prefer BSN, so I hear. I am in Vero, so that was never a choice for me. The local HCA hospitals will hire new nurses though...In fact I just finished the program and got in there :) Woot!
