Hello from Devon in England.
I'm afraid I'm not a nurse (although I did work as a hospital darkroom technician for many years!), but have registered with this website in order to post this message.
I'm trying to locate a lady who would be in her mid to late 70s now, but who was a nurse in The British Hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in the 1950s. In the late 50s/early 60s, she married and moved to Canada, but I don't know which part of Canada ... which is why I'm so desperate for help!
Her maiden name was Gillian Anderson, and she married a man called Herbert Mackay (McKay?).
If anyone could suggest how I might be able to trace this lady, I'd be sincerely grateful. I've already tried all the 'person' searches on the Internet, with no luck so far, but then someone suggested I try finding her via the nursing network. Well, at this stage, anything is worth a try!
I was wondering whether a small article in a nursing magazine might be a good idea ... perhaps you could give me your thoughts on this? I'd also need to know which magazine to choose (ie the most widely read).
If you think you may be able to help, then please feel free to e-mail me, and I'll happily tell you the full story behind my search.
Very many thanks.
Wendy :)

Very many thanks.Wendy :)
Wendy, check the list of forums. There is probably one just for Canada. God bless you!
Did you try Classmates.com?

Do the nursing boards keep records on retired nurses? Could check with them. Good luck.
Many thanks for your replies, I do appreciate your interest.
I thought of posting on a 'Canada only' board, but decided against it because a) Gillian originally nursed in Argentina, b) she was British by birth, and c) I have to assume she stayed in Canada, although it's equally possible that she and her husband moved to America after a few years. I simply don't know where she is, so I had to try and reach as many areas as possible with just the one posting.
I've sent e-mails to a couple of nursing organisations, asking whether they keep archives, etc., but the messages only went out today. However, I imagine that if archives are kept, the information would be confidential.
It's for these reasons that I was thinking of submitting a small article, with the full story, in one of the nursing magazines.
Thanks again for your replies and suggestions, I'm sincerely grateful.
