CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME? I HAVE A PROJECT DUE ON JANUARY 10 ON ANY ONE OF THESE SUBJECTS: CARDIAC NSG, RESPIRATORY DISORDERS, PAIN, INFECTION/INFLAMMATION, LAB VALUES, HEMATOLOGICAL/BLOOD DISORDERS, FLUID AND ELECTROLYTE DISORDERS, ACID BASE IMBALANCE, PERIPHERAL VASCULAR DISORDERS, AND PERIOPERATIVE NSG. I HAVE TO PREPARE A 5 MINUTE VISUAL OR AUDITORY PRESENTATION.

I WAS THINKING OF DOING A PULMONARY EDEMA (IN THE RESPIRATORY DISORDERS CATEGORY), BUT I GOT A PUMP, AND BALLOON WITH WATER, AND WHEN I TRIED IT, IT DIDN'T WORK. ALMOST HALF MY GRADE GOES TO CREATIVITY AND UNIQUENESS, SO PLEASE HELP ME WITH ANY SUGGESTIONS! THANKS

Why are you posting this in the humour forum?? I'll move it to the general nursing discussion forum for you.

I am sure some of the nurses here will be able to make suggestions to help you either by PM or on the BB. However, please remember, we are not here to do the project for you!!! :D:D

Also, if the assignment is due in 4 days, why haven't you even picked a topic yet??

Good luck with your project, and your nursing studies.

With only 4 days I would do an auditory presentation. Better get cracking.

:specs: Pick a topic that you'd like to learn about because nothing helps you learn something like teaching it. I would create a couple of posters or hand-outs on acid-base balance and try to illustrate or describe something that many students (and graduates!) struggle with. Whatever topic you pick will just add to your fund of knowledge, and that is the purpose! Just my 2 cents.

I think the best lesson you'll learn here is not to let things go to the last minute.

Acid/Base is an important concept and looks like the easiest to cover from your list.

I explain the basics of ABG's using a lemonade example, which might be easy enough to do in class. You need a balance of acid and base in the body for all systems to work properly. Too much lemon = too tart/acidic. Too much sugar = too sweet/basic. (I think sugar is actually acidic but this is just for demonstration ;) ) The example doesn't hold up to real deep analysis but it shows that you need both acids and bases in proportion if you're going to have a happy body. Which you could demonstrate by pouring out your 7.40 lemonade at the end. ;)

Pain has been a big issue in nursing lately. It has been declared the 5th vital sign and JCAHO inspectors have made it their little thing to look for on inspections this year. Most important point: pain is what the patient says it is. I have no suggestions for an a/v presentation, though.

aacn.org has a decent educational section- there are other sites around that have good ideas, too.
