Hi,
So this spring semester I will be starting clinicals for the first time and I'm SOOO anxious, nervous, and a little bit of everything else about the whole experience. Therefore, its only right that I acquire the best type of tools for clinicals. Yet, I don't know where to find a stethoscope! I'm hesitant to settle for online shopping because I would like to actually hold and test out my stethoscope before I purchase it. Can anyone name some great stores where I can purchase a quality stethoscope? I live in Chicago but go to school in New Hampshire btw. Thanks everyone!
My school specifically advised us to get the cheapest stethoscope we could find -- that would meet our student needs just fine and, as already noted, students aren't making any life-or-death decisions about anyone based on their heart, breath, or bowel sounds. Plus, a really nice stethoscope used to be a traditional graduation gift for nursing school graduates -- if you've already spent a lot of money on a fancy stethoscope, what's your family supposed to get you for graduation?? :)
I liked my lightweight but it fell out of my bag in an ambulance. I didn't mind my classic II SE but I retired it in favor of my cardiology III when I became triage medic in an ER. I purchased a master cardiology in celebration of passing my first MSN class but I don't know if I will like it as much. I am curious about the peds adapter and whether I will prefer the cardiology III.

I got my stethoscope from renlor.com. It's a great stethoscope! It is extremely light weight and the sound quality is amazing. They have a lot of fun designs on their website. You can even get your name or initials painted on the head piece.
