The Dr. orders 1gm Kefzol IV q8 hr. The med is reconstituted in 50mL NS and pharmacy instructs you to run it over 15 min. Calculate the pump rate in ml/hr?

50ml/8hr X 1hr/60 x 15gtt= 1.56 this is wrong

the correct answer is 200 but I don't know how the book got this answer

I don't think emilyemily and other students need more formulae (although northmississippi has given a perfectly good one for this problem).

They need to understand how to look at a problem to decide what's being asked and then to be able to understand what parts of the question they need to use to figure out the answer, and then how to use those parts to get the right answer. Tall order.

Agreed.Formulas are of no use if you don't know how to plug the right numbers in.
